Prakis International Education Conference known as “Prakis IEC” seeks to address educational issues within the African continent by bringing all educational stakeholders and interested communities together under one roof to discuss, brainstorm and come up with positive outcomes that are implementable to restructure and redesign the African education curriculum. This conference aims to focus more on infusing African indigenous knowledge, creativity, tourism, and entrepreneurship into our African curriculum; which will yield sustainable development for the continent.
It is a known fact that many African countries suffered colonialism and this had adverse effects on the continent, especially on education. Africa as a continent is made up of 54 countries and each of the countries’ education curricula is designed according to the western educational system without considering the needs and resources available in African countries. Some African countries even went to an extent of either borrowing or buying their education curriculum from their western countries. This practice has caused the African states to plan their school curriculum in line with the westerner education thinking that it is the right way to participate in globalization. Unfortunately, any subject taught under this curriculum results in African children regurgitating what they are taught instead of understanding and having in-depth knowledge of the content. Many examples cited in the textbooks do not relate to African indigenous contexts, thus disconnecting children from their indigenous knowledge. In addition, the real and victual African history was also distorted. Each of the African countries has been working in isolation since they adopted the education curriculum of their westerner settlers to design and plan their school curriculum which of course led to non-integration, non-inclusive, and non-sustainable developmental growth.
Therefore, the African school curriculum has faced many challenges in terms of implementation because the curriculum was not designed to suit the African context. African children learned more from the foreign education curriculum that was presented which does not prepare them to learn and acquire knowledge on how to use their local natural resources to solve continental problems that can bring industrialization, technological innovation, and sustainable development to the continent. Our organization has observed with dismay the continuing danger of Africa being a consuming and not producing continent which still seeks expatriates from western countries to mine African natural resources. The educational curriculum designed for African schools has subjected Africa’s most brilliant, and intelligent children to perpetually hunt for jobs in foreign countries while leaving our continent in shambles even after completing their degree programs. This need has to be addressed and corrected if Africa must shed the cloak of dependency. Furthermore, the fast decaying of African morals and values needs to be redressed if the legacies and dreams of our forefathers for a progressive Africa must be realized.
Prakis Educational Services believe that it is high time to frontally and collectively confront the African educational, industrial, and entrepreneurial flaws through a unified continental platform that can ensure a continental comprehensive paradigm shift in the right direction.
The education system should transform in such a way that it suits the African context and addresses the continental needs.
The mode of the conference will be a Hybrid i.e. physical and virtual attendance to give participants an option according to their preferences.
A call for papers will be made through the various networks of the convening partners. This includes our website, email campaigns, social media, media houses, flyers, etc.

There will be networking and business sessions where partnerships and collaborations for both personal and business expansions can be established. The delegates will also get a chance to attend a gala dinner where they can dine and rub shoulders with the VIPs and the “who is who” that will be gracing the occasion.

Our post-conference goal is to have a working document that will be collectively agreed upon. This document shall be possessed by each African country and shall be used by their curriculum planners to plan and re-design a curriculum that will suit their context, and integrate Africa as a continent according to ‘AU Agenda 2063’. In addition, this must set us as a continent on the global stage.
